We collect and then sell gently used books (and CDs and DVDs) from donating individuals and from book drives held in offices, apartment buildings, and university departments. Hosting a book drive is simple and convenient, as Turning the Page provides all the necessary information and picks up all donations at drive’s end. The host’s biggest job is spreading the word and encourage donations from friends, family, colleagues, and anyone else. Ongoing or temporary book drives can occur any time of the year and are flexible with individual schedules. The items we collect are then sold to the public at our used bookstore, Carpe Librum, in downtown Washington, D.C., as well as online.

You don’t have to host a book drive to donate, since we also accept donations from individuals. For 5 boxes of books or more, we can coordinate a pick up anywhere in a 30 minute driving radius of downtown DC.  You can also drop off donations of any size at our Carpe Librum bookstores or the Turning the Page office.

We accept donations of gently used books, CDs, and DVDs of any genre and for all ages (for kids and/or for adults), but no magazines, periodicals, encyclopedia or other large book sets (unless classic literature), or VHS tapes.
