Turning the Page’s Biggest Fundraiser is Books!

We collect and then sell gently used books (and CDs and DVDs) from donating individuals and from book drives held in offices, apartment buildings, and university departments. Hosting a book drive is simple and convenient, as Turning the Page provides all the necessary information and picks up all donations at drive’s end. The host’s biggest job is spreading the word and encouraging donations from friends, family, colleagues, and anyone else. Ongoing or temporary book drives can occur any time of the year and are flexible with individual schedules. The items we collect are then sold to the public at our used bookstore, Carpe Librum (currently, located in two pop-up locations in Chicago), as well as online.

You don’t have to host a book drive to donate, as we also accept donations from individuals. We accept book donations from Chicago area homes, or from D.C. area homes. We also make this process easy for you – to donate books, we can coordinate a pick up anywhere within a 30-minute driving radius of each Carpe Librum location, which includes our Block 37 location and our location at the Roosevelt Collection Shops, both of which are located in Chicago. You can also drop off donations of any size at our Carpe Librum bookstores or the Turning the Page office locations in either D.C. or Chicago.

If you want to donate books in Chicago or in D.C., we accept donations of gently used books, CDs, and DVDs of any genre and for all ages (for kids and/or for adults), but no magazines, periodicals, encyclopedias or other large book sets (unless classic literature), or VHS tapes.
