Carpe Librum Bookstore
Thousands of gently used books, CDs, and DVDs all priced $1 – $4!
Turning the Page has “pop-up” book sales in Washington, D.C. and Chicago! Carpe Librum (“seize the book“) is the name Turning the Page gives our book selling spaces. All books, CDs, DVDs, and vinyl records for sale at Carpe Librum locations are donated by the public and all proceeds go straight to Turning the Page, in support of our programs.
Our 17th Street location in D.C. closed its doors last month, but will open up again in another D.C. location (information to come!). Carpe Librum’s two Chicago popups have become welcome additions to the community, located in Block 37 and the Roosevelt Collection Shops.
If you would like to donate books, CD’s, DVD’s, or vinyl records, we accept donations of any genre and for all ages (for kids and/or for adults) from the Chicago and D.C. communities. We will even make it easy for you, as we will pick-up boxes of book donations (five boxes or more) from Chicago area homes or D.C. area homes at no cost to you. All you need to do is call or email us at our Chicago or D.C. location to schedule a pick-up. The few items that we are unable to take into inventory are encyclopedias, magazines or journal publications, text books older than 10 years, and VHS or cassette tapes.
*You can drop off donations in person anytime our bookstore is open- no appointment necessary!

DC Carpe Librum:
After four wonderful years at our bookstore location at 1030 17th Street NW, Carpe Librum has moved out of this neighborhood, due to building renovations. Since we turned our pop-up into a full-time location in 2013, we are grateful for the enthusiastic community support, which enabled Turning the Page to sustain and strengthen our programs public school parents to be more active and effective participants in their children’s education. We enjoyed being a part of the Farragut North community and hope to announce a new location soon!
