As it Celebrates its 18th Anniversary Working in the Greater Washington Region, the Catalogue for Philanthropy is Proud to Honor Turning the Page
After an intentional application and selection process, in June the Catalogue for Philanthropy: Greater Washington selected Turning the Page to be part of the Class of 2021-2022. Turning the Page underwent a rigorous review process conducted by a team of 170+ local community advocates and has been found to be a critical local nonprofit. Potential donors can be confident that the nonprofits in the Catalogue are worthy of their support. Turning the Page’s mission is to link public schools, families, and our community so that, together, we can ensure students receive valuable educational resources and a high-quality public education.
“People want to get involved in their community—they want to make a difference, close to home. Based on our rigorous review process, we believe that Turning the Page is a critical local nonprofit in our region,” said Matt Gayer, Co-Executive Director of the Catalogue for Philanthropy.
Turning the Page is beyond thrilled to be included in this cohort of non-profits. We have learned a lot since March 2020 when the pandemic forced us to create new programs and new ways of engaging families. We are excited for our new hybrid summer learning programming, where we’ve partnered with many organizations around DC for parents to use the city as a classroom. We are also looking forward to reinstituting parent workshops in the fall when school begins again. And of course, we will continue to build home libraries – since August of 2020, we have distributed 3,840 books to 313 DC families.
“The importance of engaging with parents in support of student learning has never been more apparent. We are proud that our work generally, and during the pandemic, is being recognized by the Catalogue of Philanthropy and our community. We know how critical the next months and year will be for students and their families, and we’re looking forward to a year full of learning and achievement.” – Jason King, TTP President & CEO
