Engaging Families for Student Success

Community Nights Child Mentors

To encourage interest and attendance at Community Nights, Turning the Page seeks volunteers to serve as child mentors. Mentors read with elementary school children and conduct other literacy-based activities while their parents attend educational workshops on in-home learning, tracking student progress, parent-teacher relationships, and other topics. Individual volunteers and volunteer groups are welcome. Contact our Directors of Programs for more information.

Carpe Librum Bookstore Volunteers

To keep our downtown D.C. used bookstore Carpe Librum organized and fully stocked with donated used books (and CDs and DVDs) Turning the Page seeks bookstore volunteers. Volunteers sort and shelve books, organize and alphabetize sections, and keep our store in working order. Individual volunteers are welcome throughout the year on flexible schedules and volunteer groups are encouraged specifically in the spring. Carpe Librum’s entire inventory is donated so donations and book drives are also welcome. Contact our Development Coordinator, Alie Mihuta for more information on volunteering and/or donating.
