TTP Parent Leaders Chosen for Chancellor’s Parent Cabinet

TTP is honored to work with parent leaders in Washington, D.C., whose passion, determination, and drive shape their schools and communities. They know what’s right for their students, for their schools, and for public education in the District. This year, DCPS Chancellor Kaya Henderson inducted three current and past TTP parents from Wards 7 and 8 into the Chancellor’s Parent Cabinet. This honor validates the strong work they’re already doing, and gives them the ear of the Chancellor as they shape education for DCPS students throughout the city.

Turning the Page applauds Ms. Tara Brown and Ms. Kimberly Johnson, parents at our school partners W.B. Patterson Elementary and MLK, Jr. Elementary. We’ve seen them celebrate the involvement of parents at their schools by building Parent Teacher Organizations and by advocating for their students and their need for greater technological resources.  And we congratulate Ms. Shameka Stewart, who was heavily involved in our programs at Tyler Elementary School and continues to be a leader for the District at Kelly Miller Middle School.

With these parents by her side, Turning the Page knows that Chancellor Kaya Henderson will be in good hands. TTP will proudly continue to accompany our leaders as they shape education in Ward 8 and across the District.
