To our customers, friends, and supporters:
I hope that you, your family, and your colleagues are healthy and staying safe. I am writing to you today to share how we are continuing to engage and support families during this difficult time, and to ask for your help. Please see below for ways you can support us.
With schools closed and families at home, Turning the Page is putting our long history and experience of successfully engaging parents to use, and will be supporting parents and families through virtual family engagement programming. We will be culling, creating, and making accessible to families in our programs a series of at-home learning strategies, resources and experiences that can enhance at-home learning through many different technology platforms. We will be virtually bringing together our array of community partners to make these learning experiences as engaging, useful, and fun as possible, for parents and their children. We look forward to keeping you updated on our progress and are grateful to be able to contribute during this unprecedented crisis.
Turning the Page also faces many organizational challenges during this time, and is seeking your help and support. We have made the difficult decision to close our Carpe Librum bookstores until we can safely re-open. When the COVID-19 outbreak hit, we had also been busy planning for a spring and summer of indoor and outdoor book sales and festivals in neighborhoods in Washington, DC and Chicago, to complement our physical pop-up bookstore locations. The funds from all of these sales—more than three dozen—and from our stores would have been instrumental to both our spring and summer family engagement programs, and to the successful start of the 2020-2021 school year.
We are now asking for your support.
