Although 2020 was challenging, we saw notable successes throughout the year. We recreated our in-person Community Nights with online events such as a behind-the-scenes tour to the National Museum of Natural History and a live webinar with the National Museum of African American History & Culture. We had virtual field trips to the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago and the Wellington Zoo all the way in New Zealand! Many authors and illustrators visited virtually with our families including Christine Platt, Candace Fleming, Eric Rohmann, and Lisa Maggiore. We connected with 198 parents on one-on-one phone calls. We continued to build home libraries by distributing 1,996 books to 263 families. We invite you to read more about our year in review.
Please join us on Thursday February 4th as we celebrate these accomplishments and more with parent leaders, teachers, authors, and other partners we’ve worked with throughout the past year, as well as a musical performance from jazz pianist and singer Alyssa Allgood, named “Best Jazz Entertainer” in the 2019 Chicago Music Awards.
This virtual event is free to attend but registration is required ahead of time.
